The former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has received a certificate of endorsement as a presidential candidate in the 2016 election. Mbabazi received the document from the regional leaders of the NRM Poor Youth group who urged him to stand as their candidate. As they interacted, Mbabazi asked them to be patient, assuring them that he does have a message and will deliver it at the appropriate time. The meeting took place at his house in Kololo, Kampala.
