Kampala, Uganda – East Africa / November 2, 2015
With just under 14 hours to the nomination of Presidential aspirant John Patrick Amama Mbabazi of the Go Forward Pressure Group, his camp is accusing government of plotting to fail his bid. Mbabazi’s lawyers claim that plans are foot to arrest him before his nomination on Tuesday. Spokesman of Mbabazi’s legal team Fred Muwema told journalists in Kampala that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions is nearly concluding preparing murder, money laundering and espionage charges against their client. But Police Spokesman Fred Enanga has dismissed the claims. He challenged Mbabazi’s lawyers to give proof. And as Sheila Nduhukire reports, the DPP also says theyt are not preparing charges against Mbabazi.
