Is Mbabazi breaking the law by holding rallies? – NTV
Kampala, Uganda – East Africa /September 9, 2015
Presidential aspirant Amama Mbabazi is vowing to disregard a directive by the Electoral Commission against holding rallies instead of town hall meetings. Head of Mbabazi’s legal team Fred Muwema told journalists at his office in Kampala that the commission was acting outside the law. Muwema said they would institute criminal proceedings against Secretary to the Electoral Commission Sam Rwakoojo and the spokesman Jotham Taremwa for attempting to incite the public against Mbabazi. But as Sudhir Byaruhanga reports, the Electoral Commission insists that Mbabazi is violating the Presidential Elections Act.
