Court lifts ban on Parliament oil probe
The Court had stopped the ad-hoc committee from investigating Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and two Cabinet ministers pending a final determination of the petition filed by Severino Twinobusingye who contended that parliament has no power to set up such a committee.

The four expelled NRM rebel MPs have queried the competence of a three-member panel of the Constitutional Court, contending that its current composition of only three justices, incapacitates it to hear Constitutional cases.
The query was raised when the MPs legal team led by George Kanyeihamba, made a preliminary objection(P.O), as the Constitutional Court in Kampala convened for hearing of an application to temporarily evict the MPs before the main case is heard.

Government has rejected the sh12.9b costs awarded to a city lawyer who blocked Parliament from forcing Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and two other ministers from stepping down in the oil bribery saga.
“I find the costs astronomical. My office finds the costs unjustified. We are appealing that ridiculous decision. Nowhere in Ugandan or in East Africa have such costs been awarded,” Freddie Ruhindi, deputy attorney general stressed.

Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has suspended Parliament indefinitely following Tuesday’s incident where MPs became rowdy and others attempted to grab the mace.
She has with that effect directed the committee on rules, privileges and discipline to investigate the matter.

Parliament on Thursday put to task the Attorney General, Peter Nyombi, to explain the sh12.9b award to city lawyer Severino Twinobusingye by the Constitutional Court.
